The 9th Bourne End Junior Craft Show took place in early October with an incredible array of arts and crafts created by local children aged 4-16.
It was amazing to be back in the library after last year’s online event. The number of entries received made organisers Amy and Sue Croall realise just how important this event is for the local community.
The show grew from very humble beginnings, a simple idea that Amy had when she was 10 years old. Sue said “it felt so good to be back in the library and to be able to talk to people and to see the artwork properly in all its glory. Incredibly next year will be our 10th Show. It will be the same format and classes as always, but we are considering various tweaks and extras to make it special”.
Saturday 1st October 2022 is the planned date for the 10th anniversary so pop it into your diaries!
A very well done to everyone who entered. Judging was a hard task this year (it always is to be honest) and we were amazed by the talent out there. Sometimes it’s the simplest entry that gets our attention; the tied-together coloured rubber bands were tactile and oh so relaxing to play with. Something that must have taken hours and hours to create was the Mouse House; the intricacy was awe-inspiring! We loved the colouring of the big fish with his mouth shut, then open, the painted penguin was super cute, the origami dragon very clever and the painting of the wasp was brilliant.
If only we had the time and the space to mention them all!
