An afternoon of heaven at The Cliveden Spa
It isn’t often we get the chance to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. When The Cliveden Spa offered hiya bucks an invitation to enjoy its luxurious spa facilities we were very excited.
Access to the Hotel and Spa is via the entrance in Bourne End Road (not through the main gates which is the entrance for the National Trust). The driveway is impressive, passing Cliveden’s iconic Fountain of Love with the hotel ahead. The spa is located on the righthand side of the hotel.
The spa garden boasts a large outdoor heated swimming pool and two hot tubs, all with stunning views of the beautiful golden clock tower. Inside, there is a similar sized heated pool and jacuzzi, surrounded by comfortable loungers.
There are seven treatment rooms offering body treatments with Cliveden’s own range of products, OSKIA and Sarah Chapman facials, and signature spa nail treatments – the list is long. There is also a Technogym fitness suite, sauna and steam room. Comfortable individual changing rooms and showers with indulgent body products, big fluffy towels and state of the art hairdryers and hair straighteners are all part of the experience.
Having donned our swimwear and complimentary bathrobes we walked the short distance to The Spa Kitchen for lunch, feeling somewhat apprehensive at eating in a restaurant in our bathrobes. No worries, all the other guests were in their bathrobes too!
The menu featured varied and healthy choices, including vegetarian and gluten free options and a salad bar. Wine, champagne and cocktails are also available. We must say thanks to our waiter, Luca, who provided exemplary service with a smile and a cake each for the birthday girls.
After a light lunch we immersed ourselves in the hot tub. What bliss! Despite the miserable weather one of us even managed to swim a few lengths of the outside pool.
It’s amazing how quickly time passes when you are having fun. We enjoyed the steam room and state of the art sauna, followed by a swim in the indoor pool. If we had rubbed shoulders with anyone rich or famous it had completely escaped our attention, we were far too relaxed to notice.
Thank you to The Cliveden Spa, this was a birthday treat like no other.
