300 year old hotel to become a drive thru & take away!
The national trust village of West Wycombe is home to the beautiful George and Dragon Hotel – which this year is turning 300 years old! Obviously, this is a huge celebration which calls for a party, but as we all know the country is under very difficult and trying times, and the team at the hotel had to think outside of the box….
Wednesday the 17th June at 5pm they are opening their doors as a drive thru & take away adventure – the first of its kind in the area! where else will you be able to drive in through an 18th century coaching inn archway and order a quarter pounder beef burger with spicy slaw and a portion of loaded fires?!
Popular items off their previous a la carte menu are making an appearance people will be glad to hear to hear, such as their crispy Rebellion ale battered prawns with homemade chilli dipping sauce & lamb koftas with tzatziki. For main course you can choose either their hugely popular beer battered fish and chips, aubergine and chickpea curry, pizzetta, chicken burger and a selection of sides.
The drive thru/take away will be open from Wednesday – Sundays 5pm through to 9pm. There’s no need to book at all – simply walk along and pop in, roll up in your car, phone your order through or order via their website www.georgeanddragonhotel.co.uk.
Also, from the 17th June the team have been creating gorgeous hampers in preparation for Father’s Day, which include bottles of beer, Chiltern charcuterie meats and a jar of their homemade wild garlic pesto. People can also buy DIY pizza box kits which are a great way to get involved with the kids at dinner time.
Over the past few weeks, the staff have been conducting a thorough deep clean of the kitchens and food preparation areas ready for this and all of the staff working will be following the strict PPE guidelines to ensure that both customer and staff alike are fully safely protected.
