When you have the opportunity of eating the finest food cooked by a professionally trained chef you know you are in for a treat.

This is food cooked by Lewis Twydle. It’s cooked with love, with patience and with so much flavour it’s insane how good it tastes.

The lobster mac&cheese was rich, indulgent and packed with large pieces of lobster. The wild mushroom arancini with a side of truffle mayonnaise was deliciously moreish, and the tender lamb rump with accompanying lamb shoulder croquette was divine and deliciously wholesome.

However, it was the chicken tagine and accompanying couscous from his Middle Eastern Tapas menu that had us talking. Honestly, we could eat this over and over again. The couscous was the best thing ever, and that’s not to take away from the other dishes as we enjoyed them all. Even my husband, who has always disliked couscous, is now a convert saying “if couscous tasted that amazing all the time I would order it any day”.

Both the chicken and lamb tagines had so much flavour, a serious amount of flavour, a flavour we want to enjoy time and time again. Sitting in the garden, in the warm sunshine, the tagines took us to faraway places with their exotic spices and seasonings; they made us feel like we were on holiday (not on lockdown).

To round off, we enjoyed the chocolate mousse with cherries, tonka bean and homemade honeycomb. It was heavenly, indulgent but not overly rich, smooth, chocolatey and scrumptious and we loved it! We loved everything, in fact, we were very happy people!

At the age of 18 Lewis Twydle trained at the Tante Marie Cookery School. He went on to work at the Artichoke in Old Amersham and then at the 2* Michelin restaurant, Andrew Fairlie’s in Gleneagles. Now based back in Old Amersham, he offers a home delivery service* for his three course fine dining menu, Spanish and Middle Eastern tapas menus and Friday specials.
