After being lucky enough to visit Prime in Beaconsfield, it comes as no surprise that the steak and grill restaurant has entered the top 100 restaurants in the UK for the past two years running. The quality of the food, atmosphere and service made it a 5* dining experience that we would recommend to anyone.
Prime offers a comprehensive menu full of high quality dishes that don’t necessarily have to ‘break the bank’. You can enjoy a two course lunch and earlybird menu costing only £16.90 from Monday to Saturday, or if you like the finer things in life then you’ll love their exquisite wine list and prime (excuse the pun) cuts of steak.
Our experience was made unforgettable by Stefan, our waiter on the night, who had extensive knowledge of the entire food and drinks menu and how to pair each together. He gave us recommendations on Prime favourites and which wine to try with what we fancied. Stefan strongly encouraged us to opt for a bottle of Garzon Tannat, a red wine harvested in Uruguay, which he said would go beautifully with the fillet steak and Prime burger that we chose for our mains – and he wasn’t wrong!
Of course, we had to try Prime’s signature burger and a fillet steak with their port and mushroom sauce, which we agreed was the best steak accompaniment we had ever tasted! But, we also wanted to try a completely different addition to their menu, including the scallops with black pudding and their chargrilled asparagus with poached eggs and hollandaise. Neither disappointed. The scallops were seared beautifully and the black pudding melted in your mouth, whilst the eggs were poached to perfection and the hollandaise was stunningly rich.
If you are a vegetarian or pescatarian and going out to dinner with a meat lover then Prime can definitely entertain you both – we highly recommend taking a look at their menu.
Beaconsfield’s Prime can hold up to an impressive 200 guests but you’d never know it as the restaurant is cleverly structured with dividers – so if you’re a couple wanting a romantic night for two, you’d never know that a party of twenty are just across from you. Prime also offers a stunning bar upstairs that we were recommended to enjoy a drink in before our meal. The bar sits centrally so that you can watch your cocktails being made and sit in an open vibrant atmosphere. Even if you’re not planning to eat then we’d recommend you having a drink there one day.
