It can be hard to find authentic, home cooked, Indian Cuisine. The type of food which is bursting with flavour, slow cooked, and delicious rather than generic Curry Gravy from a slightly dodgy takeaway. Luckily for Bucks residents Reuben’s authentic Indian takeaway is serving up delicious food across the county and I was lucky enough to try some of her food; she truly delivered, in both the literal and metaphorical sense.
Founded by Raj at the start of the first lockdown, one happy customer said “Having lived in India for 4 months, I have been looking for authentic Indian food ever since. Finding Reuben’s meant that my search finally came to an end. Delicately balanced flavours make for an absolutely authentic experience where you can taste the love.”
Starting with some Keema and Chicken Tikka Puffs we were quickly salivating at the thought of the rest of the meal. Plump and not-at-all greasy they were the perfect start to our banquet!
We followed with Murgh Makhani (butter chicken), Karahi Lamb, Tadka Dal, Saag, Raj Ma (kidney beans) flavoured naans, fluffy rice and the most flavour packed raita I’d ever had. Everything was beautiful.
The lamb was succulent and full of flavour after a long slow cook. The kidney bean dish, which was new to me, quickly became one of my favourites with a beautiful balance of heat and spice. Passing the dishes around our table we each sampled a bit of everything, the way it should be, with any curry left in the middle being quickly devoured. This is a real eye-opener and mouth-watering example of traditional, home cooked Indian cuisine.
The newly opened Black Horse Farm Shop in Fulmer is stocking Reuben’s beautiful food, freshly frozen, ready for you to reheat and enjoy at home. Everything is cooked with the freshest of ingredients and delivered to the farm shop a couple of times a week.
