Review: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

By Amy Sansom

Chapterhouse Open Air Theatre Company – Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

What an evening we had on Saturday 23rd June! A beautiful day, ended with a fantastic production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by the Chapter House Theatre Company. They used scenes from the books that you rarely get to see in the films and included characters such as the Griffin and Mock Turtle, Duchess and Pig as well as the Lobster Quadrille. They used a fantastic overlying storyline which worked brilliantly as this was a family friendly production it helped keep it simple for the children to follow, the interaction with the audience really bought the show to life as parents and children of all ages got on their feet to dance along to some of the songs!

We were also amazed at the gorgeous costumes for such a strange array of characters! This is something you don’t get to appreciate as much with a film, as well as the hard work for the quick changes into different roles! Also, what a wonderful setting for a theatre production! We have been so lucky with the weather this year, the perfect timing to make the most of an outdoor event on our local National Trust grounds in West Wycombe.

Make sure to look out for any further events on our website and book your tickets fast as they do sell out quickly.
