Mamma Mia – Hiya Bucks Review
By Jackie Sabatini
What struck me from the onset was the vast range of ages that came to watch the show, it was really nice to see so many people from different generations all together enjoying a family friendly performance.
As far as the actual show goes – well I’m not sure where to begin as from start to finish I was thoroughly engrossed in the whole performance.
Obviously the music is great, even if you’re not a massive fan of musicals or ABBA, the upbeat tone to the songs won’t fail to bring a smile to your face whether it’s the songs or, for those of us slightly older disco dancers, to reminisce on the 70’s and all the flared trouser and platform boots that went with it. By the way there are plenty of those (flares and platform boots) in the show.
The first half of the performance was so full of energy that it swept me off to a Greek Island with no problem and that’s where I stayed throughout the whole show. The cast were great with a real mixture of sentiment and comedy intermixed.
Great singers, great dancers and a really professional performance.
The second half of the show was just as good with as much energy and some great solo performances. Truly outstanding!
I have seen the film and loved it – mostly for the lovely scenery and great songs – and was worried I would not enjoy a stage performance so much. I couldn’t have been more wrong, the cast and stage settings really pulled it off – it was amazing and I would definitely go to watch it again.
