Back in November, there was a buzz in Bourne End surrounding the newly opened desserts lounge – Bourne for Desserts. Recently, I paid them a visit to see if it really lived up to the hype given by my family and friends.
The products were of exceptional quality, presented well, rich and rather filling! All the ingredients were fresh, as noted by the various boxes of chocolates set aside behind the counter. Looking at the menu, there was a huge variety in each category, all of which looked appealing. You can eat in or take away, have hot and cold food/drink or sweet and savoury. There’s also a gluten free alternative. Products included: ice cream, sundaes, waffles, milkshakes, cheesecakes, cakes, tarts, but also tea, coffee, toast, soft drinks etc. The cake selection varies daily, with the milkshakes having a customised option. A special offer was afternoon tea for two at £25.
The lounge is very user friendly – the facilities included a baby-changing station and a WC. The interior is stunning and very spacious, with various seating arrangements from stools, tables & chairs to American diner-style booths. There is free wifi available, both cash and card is accepted and they are active on social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). Most importantly, the prices are very reasonable. You can book over the phone in advance, at 01628 552590. The parking across the road in the Parade is free, it has wide pavements outside and is directly opposite the pedestrian crossing.
The service was excellent and I heard some good customer comments when I was there. The lounge was quite busy and had a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The staff were welcoming too and the owner even gave me a secret about how he made my milkshake! It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend you visiting.
